A group of people in Charlottesville
is doing everything in its power to make it legal to grow hemp.
The Virginia Industrial Hemp
Coalition met to discuss the importance of what it calls an amazing natural
resource. The group says legalizing industrial hemp would help out farmers and
boost the economy, as it is a low-maintenance crop that should not be confused
"I mean it's really a
miracle plant when you start to look at the evidence that we have and they
actually use it for some sites to get radiation out of the soil, so it really
is a miracle plant and it needs to be grown," said Jason Amatucci, the
coalition's founder. "It's really a no-brainer in my opinion."
The movies "The Emperor Wears
No Clothes" and "The Hemp Revolution" were shown at Thursday night's meeting.
