Michelle Obama Campaigning for McAuliffe in Virginia
McLEAN, Va. (AP) - First lady Michelle Obama is set to campaign for Democrat Terry McAuliffe in his bid to become Virginia's next governor.
Michelle Obama is scheduled to attend a Thursday afternoon fundraiser at the Sheraton in Tysons Corner. Tickets for the event range from $100 to $750.
McAuliffe and Republican Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli are party nominees in Virginia's bellwether governor's election in November.
The former Democratic National Committee chairman held nearly a 2 to 1 edge in campaign cash on hand at the end of May over Cuccinelli. Reports due Monday by statewide and legislative candidates showed McAuliffe with $5.4 million in the bank as of May 29 to Cuccinelli's $2.7 million.
