African Children’s Choir Stops in Charlottesville

Posted: Updated:

A group of young performers touring the country is in Charlottesville Friday night.

The African Children's Choir is a professional troupe of young singers, dancers and drummers. The group is made up of orphaned African children, most of them from Uganda.

The money they raise helps them build homes for the choir children. It also helps fund numerous schools in Africa.

"The children of Uganda and their ministry have age ministry, education ministry, literacy ministry, so it's a great opportunity to support the African Choir," said Pastor Hodari Hamilton of First Baptist Church.

The event was at the First Baptist Church in Charlottesville. Hamilton says he hopes to raise $15,000 for the children.
