Gordonsville Man Pleads Guilty to Maliciously Wounding a Police Officer

A Gordonsville man pleaded guilty to malicious wounding after hitting an Albemarle County police officer with a pickup truck. Harold Tazewell Morris, 44, was in Charlottesville Circuit Court Tuesday.

Police say Morris was driving drunk last March when he hit the back of a woman's car twice near the intersection of Long and High streets. Morris then allegedly hit an Albemarle County police officer with his pickup truck.

Morris is charged with attempted capital murder, hit-and-run and felonious assault.      

Morris will be sentenced on October 15.
