UPDATED: Charlottesville Police Investigate Shooting on Birdwood Court
Charlottesville police are investigating a shooting that involved an officer and happened Sunday night.
Charlottesville police say they responded to the 100 block of Birdwood Court around 9 p.m. Sunday. They say Albemarle County officers were conducting an investigation when one of them discharged a weapon. The man who was shot was transported to the University of Virginia Medical Center.
Charlottesville Police and the Charlottesville Commonwealth's Attorney's Office are working on the case.

Charlottesville Police Department MEDIA RELEASE
On Sunday evening at approx 9 pm officers with the Charlottesville Police Department responded to the 100 block of Birdwood Court.
Albemarle County officers were on the scene conducting an investigation, when an officer discharged a weapon, the male victim was transported to Uva Medial Center for treatment.
Investigators with our agency are working in conjunction with the Charlottesville Commonwealth Attorneys Office on this case.
No further details are available at this time as investigators continue their work.
