Live music was just one part of the free festival in Tonsler Park.
Whether you're a student or a kid at heart, Tonsler Park was apparently the place to be Saturday night. The free festival in the park was already packed when it kicked off at 4 p.m.
Festival goers enjoyed a moon bounce slide, live music, face painting and food from the grill.
Members of the parks and recreation team say this event is bringing the community closer.
"Lot of friends coming out that haven't seen each other in a while, they're here today and they're kind of getting reacquainted so this day does quite a bit of things for us," said Van Johnson, facilities manager for Charlottesville Park and Recreation.
The festival wraps up at dusk. But the fun doesn't end when it gets dark. As soon as the sun goes down, festival attendees can catch a free movie - Madagascar 3.
