Schools and businesses in Fluvanna County are stepping up to help people in Oklahoma get back on their feet.
The Fluvanna County High School Interact Club - which is a junior version of the Rotary Club - is collecting clothes, shoes and backpacks at the school and at E.W. Thomas grocery store.
Lake Chiropractic is also taking donations.
"Just basic products. Things that you find yourself using every single day, if you stopped and thought, what would I do without this? We need that," said Kiera Wells, manager of Lake Chiropractic.
Wells has teamed up with the nonprofit God's Pit Crew to send the items to Oklahoma.
She will take the first set of donations to Lynchburg for pick-up Friday, but the office will continue collecting donations and send them to Oklahoma for the next few weeks.
