ORIGINAL RELEASE

Virginia State Police is continuing its investigation into an early morning crash on eastbound Route 33, South Spotswood Trial, approximately one-tenth of a mile east of Route 636, Valentine Mill Road, in Louisa County.

At approximately 10:30 a.m., May 23, Virginia State Police responded after the driver of a 2008 Hyundai Tiburon ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.

Both the male driver and female passenger, who were both not wearing their safety belts, died at the scene.

Speed is considered a factor in the crash.  Route 33 was closed in both directions for approximately two hours.

The Louisa County Sheriff's Office assisted with the on-going state police investigation.
