Medical Examiner: Crozet Fatal Shooting Ruled Accidental

The Medical Examiner's Office has ruled the death of a Crozet 10-year-old appears to be accidental. Maggie Hollifield died after being shot by a 14-year-old boy Tuesday.  

Maggie was the daughter of Paul and Anne Hollifield. Paul Hollifield is the pastor of Commonwealth Christian Community Church in Crozet - formerly known as Victory Hill Church of God.

A graveside service will be held Friday, May 24 in Amelia. There will be a visitation from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Covenant Church in Charlottesville, followed by a memorial service.

Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Darby Lowe says the case is still open and they are still investigating all the facts.There is no timeline on when the investigation will be completed.

The Albemarle County Police Department has an update with information regarding the shooting which occurred Tuesday morning in Crozet.

According to the Medical Examiner's Office in Richmond, the death has been ruled accidental in nature.

The investigation is on-going at this time.
