HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) - Virginia State Police say a World War II artillery device found near New Market didn't have any explosives in it.
Media outlets say the device was a mortar round.
State police say a man approached a state trooper on Wednesday in a parking lot in Harrisonburg and asked if he could check the device. The man said his son found it Tuesday.
A bomb technician determined that the device was harmless.
