According to the William Monroe girl's soccer coach, John Burks, 2013 marks the first year the team has had a winning season and they're doing so in style.
Burks said, "Before we would come out in the Jefferson District and it was expected that people would run-up the score on us but this year we're able to put away some key goals." Freshman striker, Rachel DeMasters added, "Its not a one-man show we just have really put it together this year. We've just really pulled it together."
The team is young but full of offensive weapons that have helped them achieve an impressive 10-4-1 record.
"I don't want to say winning fixes everything but its definitely helped the morale," said Burks. DeMasters added, "We all get this inspiration in the game to pull through and we all just have the drive to win each game."
The Dragons are about to compete in the Bull Run District semifinals, but this team has a State Championship in mind. All agree that if they stick together the way they have all season - anything is possible.
"I really think that we came together as a team and became a family and I really think that we can win this together and I really think we deserve it," said Junior Midfielder Hannah Kengerski.
