Augusta Health is celebrating its second year in a row recognized as one of the top 100 hospitals in America.
The award from Healthgrades puts the Fishersville hospital in the top 2 percent in the country for quality clinical care based on mortality and complication rates.
Healthgrades presented Augusta Health's CEO and doctors with the award during a ceremony Tuesday afternoon.
"You have to have four years of a proven track record before you're even selected. So, this is now their second year in a row, so they've climbed to the top and been able to maintain that which we all know - king of the hill, it's hard to stay there," said Matthew Cain, vice president of Healthgrades.
Healthgrades tracks public data for 4,500 hospitals nationwide to select its top 100. Augusta Health is one of only three in Virginia to receive recognition this year.
