Albemarle County police say they are stepping up patrols this week to make the roads safer.

The nationwide Click It or Ticket campaign starts off Monday morning. Albemarle police tell say they will have several officers working grant-funded overtime shifts for extra enforcement.

The officers will be keeping an eye out for speeders, people who aren't buckled up, and drunk drivers.

"We have extra officers who are devoted primarily to traffic enforcement, and that's always a focus for us with the Albemarle County Police Department, but during Click It or Ticket campaign we have extra officers who are doing overtime shifts," said Carter Johnson, the public information officer for the Albemarle County Police Department.

No roads are off limits - the officers will be on busy highways and rural routes.

The extra patrols continue through June 2.
