Charlottesville Council Approves Higher Parking Fines, Lower Speed Limits
Charlottesville City Council approved two ordinances Monday night that bring
parking fines up and speed limits down.
You'll now be forking up more money if you get a parking ticket in
Charlottesville. Council voted to bring overtime parking tickets from $15
to $20. While the overtime tickets aren't going up much, handicapped violations
will rise from $100 to $180.
The increases are expected to rake in an additional $70,000 a
Council is also lowering the speed limit on Jefferson Park Avenue from
35 to 30 miles per hour from Cleveland Avenue to Fontaine Avenue. This comes
after a speed study was conducted in the area.
Council will also look at lowering the speed limits in other areas
in the near future.
