Press Release

The Waynesboro Police Department has arrested a Staunton woman and is currently looking for her brother, also a Staunton resident, for a felonious assault against a Waynesboro woman that occurred earlier this year.  Sudana Louise Wilmott, 23 years old, surrendered herself at the Police Department on May 16 on three felony warrants:  felonious assault, burglary and assault by mob.  She is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.  Her brother, Leslie Terrell Wilmott, 27 years old, is wanted on three felony warrants as well, felonious assault/principal 2nd degree, burglary and assault by mob.  A 17 year old male juvenile from Nelson County is also facing the same charges.

The investigation into the assault revealed that both Wilmotts and the juvenile went to the 26 year old female victim's home in the 600 block of N Delphine Ave on February 16, 2013. After the victim opened her door to greet the three, Sudana Wilmott struck her repeatedly in the face.    Leslie Wilmott and the juvenile prevented anyone from coming to the aid of the victim while she was attacked.   She sustained a broken nose and several contusions.

Initially, Sudana Wilmott was charged with assault and battery.  On May 13, that charge was nolle prosequi by the Commonwealth's Attorney's office in Waynesboro General District Court and forwarded the case to a police detective for an investigation.

Anyone with information on Leslie Wilmott's whereabouts is asked to call the Waynesboro Police Department at (540) 942-6675 or Central Shenandoah Crime Stoppers at 1(800)322-2017.  Information given to Crime Stoppers may be given anonymously.  Callers with information that lead to an arrest in this case are eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.
