Area golfers put their skills to the test Thursday as 200 of them teed off for the second annual Sheriff's Posse Golf Tournament.

The tournament, held in Crozet at Old Trail Golf Club, supports more than 50 citizen volunteers who work for the Albemarle County Sheriff's Office. The office hopes to generate $25,000 to $30,000.

"This is our biggest fundraiser that we do for the office and this is actually for our volunteers. We have 65 volunteer reserve deputies and these moneys we raise today help support these programs that these volunteers enforce," said Albemarle County Chief Deputy Bobby Shiflett.

There were some special competitions, including a million-dollar hole in one contest.
