Young journalists are making their debut on Crozet Elementary School's new morning show. A group of fifth-graders just started anchoring, directing and producing the five minute CRES News program.

The school's counselor says they are learning responsibility, and becoming innovators, leaders and role models for the school.

"It's a great learning experience. They're not only learning teamwork, but as a school counselor I think it's important to explore different careers, and I think this is a great opportunity for them to see not only what happens in front of the camera but all that goes on behind and all that it takes," said Lauren Gentry, counselor at Crozet Elementary.

Gentry says the Dart Technology Team has been working to get the equipment for the show since the fall.

The news team will only go on air for about six weeks, but they will leave a lasting legacy as the first CRES News crew.
