New Poll: Gov. McDonnell's Approval Rating has Dropped
Governor Bob McDonnell
Governor Bob McDonnell's approval rating has taken a slide recently, according to a new Virginia poll.
The numbers released Wednesday from Quinnipiac University show McDonnell with a 49 percent job approval rating. That's his lowest rating in two years, and down from a 53 percent approval rating back in March.
Recently, McDonnell has been dogged by allegations that he accepted unreported gifts from Star Scientific CEO Jonnie Williams, a wealthy campaign donor. McDonnell maintains he followed Virginia's existing disclosure rules.
The poll also shows most Virginians think the scandal is "just politics," rather than a major issue.
