Staunton Music Guild Begins “Gift of Music” Program

Posted: Updated:

A nonprofit promoting music in the Shenandoah Valley is giving the gift of free performances.

The Harmony Sisters kicked off the Staunton Music Guild's "Gift of Music" program Tuesday at the Waynesboro Public Library.

The guild is seeking donations to offer musicians paid performances in front of community groups that otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity to hear live tunes.

"Music is important. It's important to the world. It's important to the quality of life in our area, and the more people we can expose to music, the better off we'll be and the happier we'll be," said Lisa Miller, member of the guild's board.

The guild hopes to do at least one performance each quarter to start the Gift of Music program.
