Piedmont Housing Alliance Offers Down Payment Assistance

Posted: Updated: May 13, 2013 11:59 PM

The Piedmont Housing Alliance has money available that you could put toward a down payment on your first home.

The Down Payment Assistance Program provides low-income families the chance to meet with a housing counselor to see what financial options are available.

"It's great for individual families to be able to save and then purchase that asset that's something that provides a level of financial stability for the family but also in the community," said Karen Reifenberger, the alliance's deputy director.

The program has helped more than 700 people buy homes in the Charlottesville area.
