UVA Women's Lax Will Play UNC in NCAA Quarterfinals
The unseeded Virginia women's lacrosse team will play #3 seed North Carolina Saturday in Chapel Hill at 1 p.m. in the NCAA quarterfinals.
The 'Hoos upset #6 seed Georgetown Sunday in the round of 16.
Virginia went on an 8-1 run that spanned both halves and held off a late rally by the Hoyas to get the win.
The team says it feels like everything is falling into place at the right time.
Senior Attacker Caroline McTiernan said, "It was a huge win. I've never in the four years I've been here made it past the second round so its really, really exciting and to know that we beat the #6 seed is huge."
"We're finally coming along and I think we're peaking at the right point. We've just been practicing a lot harder and everyone's working hard. Its just seeming to click," said Sophomore midfielder, Morgan Stephens.
Senior Goalie, Kim Kolarik said, "Beating them was just an amazing feeling. To go back to North Carolina - where we've already been twice - but its okay! We're happy to go back and we'll see them next weekend."
