Press Release

Charlottesville, Virginia, 5/13/13: On Sunday, May 19, Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT) will detour the Free Trolley due to Final Exercises and diploma ceremonies on Grounds at the University of Virginia.

The Trolley will not travel south of Emmet Street on Jefferson Park Avenue through the UVA Central Grounds, including Alderman Road and McCormick Road.  Instead, the westbound Trolley will travel on Jefferson Park Avenue to Emmet Street South, turn right onto University Avenue, and return to its usual route at the Rotunda, eastbound.

The detour will be in effect for the entirety of Trolley Sunday service (from 8:00 AM until 5:40 PM). During this time, the Trolley will serve University Transit Service(UTS) stops along the detour route, on Emmet Street from JPA to University Avenue.

As various exercises, activities, and ceremonies will be taking place the entire weekend, passengers on all routes traveling to or near the University area on both Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19 should expect delays.
