The Virginia track and field team held its final home meet of the regular season this weekend, as the Cavaliers hosted the 2nd annual Virginia Challenge at Lannigan Field.

Some of the top collegiate athletes in the nation were in attendance, as well as 10 former Olympians.

UVa junior Anthony Kostelac placed 2nd in the 800 meter run Saturday, finishing in a time of 1:48.13.

The former Albemarle High School star was running in the 800 for just the second time all season.

"I think it was a great breakout race," says Kostelac. "I wanted to get 1:48, 1:49, so I'm really happy with 1:48-low.  All these guys are really good here.  In the NCAA's they're just as good."

Virginia's grad student Mark Amirault finished 3rd in the men's 5K with a time of 14:10.89 seconds.

The Cavaliers Thomas Porter won the 10K, while Jordan Lavender, Peyton Chaney, and Danielle Williams went 1-2-3 in the women's 100-meters.

UVa returns to action at the NCAA preliminaries May 23rd.
