On Saturday, Tony O'Brien announced he's running for the Rivanna district seat, one of three open seats on the Fluvanna County Board of Supervisors

O'Brien told supporters at the Ashlawn Grille in Lake Monticello he wants the county to invest in the school system and to celebrate the schools' success. O'Brien says he hopes to challenge the county to grow.

"This election's going to be really important for the county of Fluvanna," O'Brien said. "We have three seats up and there are going to be some great candidates out there running and they're going to have different opinions but we can change the direction of where we've been going, we can choose to invest in the future."

O'Brien is the senior partner of the Charlottesville information technology company Helix Systems. He has lived in Lake Monticello since 2001.

Current supervisor Joe Chesser will not seek another term representing the Rivanna district.
