PVCC’s 40th Graduation Class Biggest in its History
More than 600 graduates will cross the stage Friday night at Piedmont Virginia Community College's 40th annual commencement ceremony.
This year's spring class is the largest in the history of the school, which was chartered in 1972. Two members of the class will receive their associate degrees even before they graduate from high school.
"With that associate degree under their belt, they're ready to transfer into a four year school as a third year student," said Anita Showers, PVCC's marketing and media relations manager.
PVCC and all of Virginia's 23 community colleges offer dual enrollment programs for public schools students, allowing them to earn college credit while still in high school.
PVCC's commencement ceremonies are Friday at 6 p.m. at John Paul Jones Arena.
