An annual farm event is coming up in Albemarle County. This weekend, an area nonprofit is inviting foodies, gardeners and the general public to join them in an outdoor celebration.
The Local Food Hub is hosting its third annual Taste of the Farm event. Food Hub members are opening up their farm to the public to give people a chance to spend time outside with their families this Mother's Day weekend while getting some good stuff for their garden.
The Taste of the Farm is a plant sale and open house. There will also be food, music and children's activities.
Food Hub members say this is the time to get spring plants in the garden, and they'll have tomatoes, peppers, watermelon, and onions, among other fresh produce.
"It's our way to sort of open our doors to the community and let people come in, tour the field, see what we're up to, as well as just spend some time out on the farm and soaking up the sun hopefully," said Emily Manley , the director of marketing and communications for the Local Food Hub.
All of the plant sales help support the Food Hub's work in the community.
The Taste of the Farm will take place rain or shine. The event is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Maple Hill Farm in Scottsville.
