Dozens of Charlottesville and Albemarle County teachers who have gone above and beyond are being honored.
Thursday night marks the 12th annual Golden Apple Awards. Forty-two teachers from Albemarle and Charlottesville schools earned the Golden Apple title. Two others will receive a $1,000 learning grant.
Recipients say it is nice to be recognized for their hard work.
"I feel like sometimes teachers are really underappreciated so when you know that a student appreciates you or that a family appreciates you, that's a really important thank you to get and I think that we should thank teachers more than we do," said Zoe Padron, a Golden Apple recipient.
Two of last year's grant recipients will give presentations about the things they were able to accomplish with the grant money.
