One of the Democratic candidates in the race for Charlottesville's commonwealth's attorney brought up an interesting platform at a news conference Wednesday. Steve Deaton says, if elected, he will change the way the prison system runs.

Deaton says that he wants to decrease the number of prisoners in jail because he believes some of the wrong people are there.

"The state just built a new hundred-million-dollar prison and they are ready to start offender loading this fall. The crime rates are going down," said Deaton.

Deaton is challenging current Commonwealth's Attorney Dave Chapman. The primary election is June 11.
