Some of the best high school athletes in the commonwealth hit the track at Lannigan Field in Charlottesville Saturday, as more than two dozen schools from across Virginia competed in the Dogwood Track Classic.
Fork Union finished in first place in the boys team rankings with 85 points.
Patrick Davis placed first for the girls with 127 points, while Western Albemarle was 4th with 45.
Fluvanna County's Hannah Meador cleared 11-06.00 to win the girls pole vault event, with the Warriors Chandler Legard (3rd - 10-06.00) and Jessika Brennin (4th - 10-00.00) also in the top five.
Western Albemarle's Annie Taylor finished first in the girls 1600 meter run with a time of 5:10.78.
Albemarle's Alison Huschke finished third in the girls 3200 meter run in a time of 11:44.81.
The Charlottesville team of Kendal Dowdell, Karina Melendez, Justice Howard, and Taylor Watkins won the 4x200 meter relay, crossing the line in 1:47.01.
Louisa County's Monica Mallory finished second in the long jump with a leap of 17-07.50.
FUMA's Peter Lomong placed second in the boys 800 meter run, crossing the line in 1:57.94.
Western Albemarle's David Taylor won the boys 3200 with a time of 9:17.24.
