Students from Free Union Country School welcomed spring with open arms Wednesday.
They honored the first day of May with a traditional May Day celebration. They gathered around a maypole and welcomed the new month with flowers, ribbons and dance.
Joya McMurray, a teacher at the school, says she remembers doing the dance when she was a student at the school.
"I would have to say that that memory was probably a little foggy, yeah, I was here when I was 3 and 4 and yeah it's been fun to be back as a teacher," McMurray said.
The head of the school says it's a great event to welcome the warm weather and get everybody excited for the annual Spring Fair this Sunday.
