A rainy day makes for a great indoor craft day.
Sunday, glass artists from around the region put on a show for an annual festival in Staunton.
The Hot Glass Festival at Sunspots Studios featured demonstrations of glass blowing, flame working and other ways to make beautiful pieces of glass art. Once the pieces cooled they were sold as marbles, beads, jewelry and more.
Children had the final say in what the glass would be transformed into.
"These glass artists choose from those drawings and the child gets to see it made out of the glass and then we give the piece, after it cools, it has to cool overnight, but then we make sure that child gets the piece later on," said Doug Sheridan, organizer of the festival.
Many of the creations are made from recycled beer bottles. One of the studio's furnaces was devoted entirely to melting down hundreds of bottles.
