Virginia senior offensive tackle Oday Aboushi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was selected by the New York Jets during Saturday's National Football League Draft. Aboushi was taken in the fifth round as the 141st overall pick.

It marks the 30th consecutive year (dating back to 1984) a Virginia player has been drafted. Tied with Florida State, the streak is the second longest in the ACC, trailing only Miami who entered the 2013 draft with a streak of 38 years. At the time of Aboushi's selection no players from Miami had been drafted.

Aboushi is the first Cavalier drafted by the Jets since D'Brickashaw Ferguson was selected No. 4 overall in the 2006 NFL Draft. Aboushi is also the eighth overall Cavalier to be drafted by the Jets.

Aboushi earned an early selection to the 2013 Senior Bowl roster, an honor as one of the top players in the country at his position. Aboushi, a first-team All-ACC honoree, graded out over 90 percent in all 12 games, including 97 percent against Miami and 94 percent against Penn State - UVa's two come-from-behind victories that included game-winning TD drives in the closing minutes. He averaged 10+ knockdown blocks per game. A second-team All-ACC pick in 2011, Aboushi was also named the Touchdown Club of Richmond's Offensive Lineman of the Year.

Aboushi played both offensive tackle and offensive guard at Virginia. Also saw time at both positions during the 2013 Senior Bowl.
