Reed Gragnani drove in four runs, as the #5 Virginia baseball team beat Virginia Tech 15-6 in Game One of their three-game series Friday in Blacksburg.
UVA (38-6, 17-5 ACC) took the lead with a 4-run second inning, and scored six more in the 7th, after the Hokies (25-18, 9-13) had cut the deficit to 9-6.
Gragnani went 3-for-5 with 2 runs scored in addition to the 4 RBI.
Brandon Downes and Jared King also had three hits.
Brandon Waddell got the win to improve to 4-1 on the season, while Whit Mayberry pitched 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief for the save.
UVA and Virginia Tech will play Game Two of their series Saturday at 2 pm.
