Update: Albemarle County Police say they have found the yellow Nissan Xterra. Investigators are still searching for the suspects.

ORIGINAL: Just after 9:30 p.m. Thursday, police responded to a report of shots fired on Longwood Drive in Charlottesville near Fifth Street Extended.

Police say a man in a yellow Nissan Xterra was driving on Longwood Drive when three African-American males approached him.

Police say the men robbed the driver and one of the suspects pulled a gun. That's when the driver left the vehicle on foot to run away. One of the suspects fired a shot in his direction.

The victim did not require medical attention, because the bullet only grazed him. The suspects then took off in the Xterra.

A neighbor, David Wilcox, heard the shot. "It's concerning. Yeah I think it's definitely concerning. You don't think something like that's going to happen on your street. I guess it's something to keep in mind and hopefully it's an isolated event," she said.

Police also took with them a tire of a car nearby that they believe may have been hit by the bullet. Police are still looking for that yellow Nissan Xterra with Virginia tags and license number XFS-3828.

Police say if you see the vehicle, do not approach it, call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 434-977-4000.
