Cville Woman Receives PVCC Distinguished Student Award

Charlottesville, VA– Piedmont Virginia Community College has presented its highest student leadership award to an honor student who may return to PVCC as a professor one day.

Charlottesville resident Jesse Mlcoch is the recipient of PVCC's Distinguished Student Award. The award was established in 1994 to recognize students who demonstrate exemplary service or leadership at the College and through activities in the College service region and beyond.

While maintaining a grade point average of 3.7 on a 4.0 scale, Mlcoch is a PVCC Ambassador, peer mentor and provides structured learning assistance to students enrolled in sociology classes. She is also a member of PVCC's Alpha Epsilon Tau chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the leading international honor society for two-year colleges; president of the Environmental and Horticultural Club; and participates in the Student Government Association and the Volunteer Club. She will be the student speaker for the graduates at PVCC's commencement ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday, May 10, at John Paul Jones Arena.

Mlcoch will receive an Associate of Arts degree in liberal arts (magna cum laude). She has been accepted to James Madison University where she plans to pursue a degree in education.
