A Charlottesville area hospital is making its medical records mobile. It's part of an ongoing effort to make it easier for patients and doctors to access important information online and on the go.
The University of Virginia Health System has been using the MyChart system for easy online access to medical records. Now, like so many other online resources, there's an app for that.
MyChart is a secure online portal where patients can access test results, message their provider's office, schedule appointments and track their health history.
This year, UVA Health launched a mobile version of the MyChart portal. Administrators say it makes it even easier for patients to stay in touch with doctors and on top of their records.
"Technology has become such an integrated part in our day to day lives that we're really excited to provide access to patients on their Android or iPhones," said Gayle Usher-Zumbach, an epic ambulatory manager at the University of Virginia Health System.
The records on MyChart are confidential. You have to set up an account with information from your healthcare provider. However, people can give access to some records to family members.
The MyChart mobile app is available for iPhone and Android users. Active MyChart users can go to their application store to download it for free.
