Meeting at The Haven Sheds Light on Homelessness in Cville
Volunteers speak at The Haven to raise awareness about homelessness in Charlottesville
In downtown Charlottesville Wednesday, volunteers came together to get people talking about homelessness.
Activist Rebeckah Armistead called the meeting at The Haven to talk about how the community deals and lives with the issue. She hopes to get rid of stereotypes affecting the homeless and let everyone know about local services to help people living on the street.
"You've got your food stamps, you've got your Medicaid, you've got assistance like HUD but they are ones you have to go on a waiting list . . . but it's worth going on that waiting list to wait," said Armistead.
