CHS Pop Quiz Team Earns $500 Scholarship from TV Quiz Show

Charlottesville High School's Pop Quiz Team competed in the world's longest running television quiz show, April 20. The CHS team beat out hundreds of secondary schools in the 52nd annual 'It's Academic', to place 3rd in the Central Virginia Region. 

The third place finish in the nation's foremost high school quiz program earned CHS $500 in scholarship money. The team was led by Seven Starosta, Richard Potter, Sammi Brown and Gavin Deane. Coaches are Suzan Hiller and Allen Robinson. 

'It's Academic' has won eight Emmys, three Golden Mikes and is endorsed by the National Association of School Boards. Prominent 'It's Academic' alumni include former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, New York Senator Charles Schumer and political commentator George Stephanopoulos, among others.
