A police stand-off in south Richmond has turned into a murder-suicide investigation. A police stand-off in south Richmond has turned into a murder-suicide investigation.

Police say evidence indicates that 38-year-old Clarence Taylor shot 33-year-old Christine Squire and fired at police officers who came to the home to check on Squire's welfare. 

The officers exchanged gunfire with Taylor. Police say Taylor shot himself.

Two officers shot during the incident have been released from the hospital. 


Two Richmond police officers are recovering after being shot Saturday.

A police stand-off in south Richmond has turned into a murder-suicide investigation.

Around 1:30 P.M. Saturday, the two officers were trying to perform welfare check in the 3900 block of Rusk Avenue.

The officers saw that a female was dead and shot at a male suspect. When the officers backed off, they heard a single gunshot. That's when they believe the male suspect took his own life.     

The officers are at the VCU Medical Center and are expected to be okay.
