Almost 300 people got active Saturday morning to give back to the University of Virginia Children's Hospital.

UVA's Phi Sigma Pi co-ed fraternity held a Zumba warm-up and 5K to benefit the hospital's Heart Family Fund.  The fund would make it easier for families with children in the hospital to get the treatment they need.

Dr. Paul Matherne, a pediatric cardiologist at the UVA Children's Hospital, started the Heart Family Fund with his wife almost five years ago.

"There's a real need to start a fund that our nurses and social worker can access to give gas cards, gift cards, pay for hotels, pay for gifts for kids whose birthdays are happening when they're in the hospital," said Matherne.

"It's so important to, you know, think about all the other expenses that come with the heartache of having a child in the hospital," said Marcy Wheeler, co-philanthropy chair.

The race raised close to $6,000 for the fund.
