Game One of the three-game series between #7 UVA and #5 Florida State has been postponed due to rain, and will be made up as part of a doubleheader Saturday.

First pitch is scheduled for 1 pm at Davenport Field.

The second game of the doubleheader will start approximately 40 minutes after the conclusion of the first game Saturday.

The teams are slated to play the 1 pm Sunday game as originally scheduled.

Tickets for the Friday game will be accepted for the first game of the Saturday doubleheader.

The last time Florida State paid a visit to Davenport Field in 2011, the teams played three extra inning games, highlighted by a Jared King walk-off home run.

"I don't know what it is about them," says King. "Sometimes when you face real quality teams, you try to take a step back, not try to do too much, and just take what the game gives you. I feel like that's going to have to be our approach this weekend against a real quality team like Florida State."

The series with the Seminoles is always a hard-fought battle.

Virginia has more wins over the last four years (227) than any other team in the nation.

FSU has the third most (220).

Head coach Brian O'Connor says, "Florida State has one of the great college baseball programs historically in the country."

While Friday's game is a rain out, and will be played as part of a doubleheader Saturday, Game Two and Three in the series are already sold out, and the Cavaliers are expecting an NCAA Regional type of atmosphere.

Sophomore outfielder Mike Papi says, "Hopefully it's going to be great. Hopefully there's a lot of people, and our fans come out. We've had great support this year."

"This is the big one," says O'Connor. "This is the match-up everybody wants to see. The atmosphere in our stadium will be as good as it gets. Everybody is looking forward to that type of experience this weekend."

Florida State swept UVA in three games in Tallahassee last season, though Virginia beat FSU 7-0 in the ACC Tournament.
