Suspect in Christiansburg Mall Shooting Appears in Court

The 18-year-old man suspected of shooting and wounding two women at a community college in Christiansburg was is Montgomery County General District Court on Monday.

Neil Allan MacInnis says he understands the charges against him but has not offered a plea. He is being arraigned on four felony charges related to the shooting incident Friday at a satellite campus of New River Community College at a mall in Christiansburg. He is charged with two counts each of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and malicious wounding.

A search warrant claims MacInnis left a note shortly before the shooting Friday that said he was "going to ruin his life."

Both victims are said to be in stable condition.

Police arrested MacInnis within minutes of the shootings and confiscated a shotgun, ammunition and other items from Macinnis' car.
