Public Art Bike Tour Puts Spotlight on Charlottesville Artists

Posted: Updated:

Cyclists hit the streets of Charlottesville to experience the city's art scene in a whole new way.

More than two dozen people met in front of CitySpace to start pedaling their way through a public art bike tour. The group traveled to different art installations around Charlottesville - including the Bridge Progressive Initiative and the IX Project.

Cyclists even got a behind-the-scenes look from the artists at each stop.

"You're more likely to pass by but you're not necessarily going to look at it in the same way you would if you went into a museum or art gallery so this is a great way to get people out, enjoying the beautiful weather and also appreciating this artwork that they might just otherwise pass by," said Victoria Long, communications director for Piedmont Council for the Arts.

The Piedmont Council for the Arts organized Sunday's bike tour in conjunction with the Tom Tom Festival.
