Sunday was a beautiful day to fly a kite and that's exactly what more than 100 people in Nelson County did in the afternoon.
It was the fifth annual Rockfish Valley Foundation Kite Festival. Participants got a chance to decorate their own kite before putting it to the windy test.
The fun wasn't just in the sky - the festival included sand bottle art, face painting and a yellow duck race.
"It's fantastic out here. It's sunny and there's just a nice light breeze for amateur kiters like myself, and we're just out here in the field just having a great time fooling around with the kite and kind of reliving some childhood memories," said Dan Gould, kite flyer.
It wasn't all amateur action. Professional kite flyers put on demonstrations and competitions.
