Waynesboro Businesses in Lawsuit over Water Access

Posted: Updated:

Two of Waynesboro's biggest employers are close to a settlement in a lawsuit over water access rights.

Baker Spring - which pumps out millions of gallons a day - is on the property of the Invista textile plant.

For decades, a pipe under the South River delivered spring water to the former Crompton Mills. The new owners of that property - now the Mill at South River - sued for restored access to the spring.

But federal court documents show the two sides expect to finalize an agreement in the next couple of weeks.
