Charlottesville Organizations Hold Home Energy Makeover Contest
Two Charlottesville organizations are offering homeowners a chance to get their homes ready for spring for free.
The Local Energy Alliance and the University of Virginia Community Credit Union are once again launching the "Home Energy Makeover" contest.
Anyone in central Virginia can enter for one of several energy efficiency upgrades.
Experts will fix up the winning house by focusing on air sealing, duct sealing, adding insulation in select areas, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning upgrades.
The grand prize is a $10,000 home energy makeover.
"There are a number of great benefits to getting a home energy upgrade," said Cynthia Adams, LEAP executive director. "It improves the comfort of the home, it improves the affordability of the home, it can improve the indoor air quality for homeowners who live there and best of all, it can also improve the appraised value over time."
The contest goes until May 31. To enter, click here.
