#11 UVa Women's Lacrosse Loses to #20 Johns Hopkins 9-8
The UVa women's lacrosse team rallied from a 7-4 second half deficit to tie Johns Hopkins at eight, but the Blue Jays scored the game winning goal with 20 seconds left to beat Virginia 9-8.
Cavs captain Caroline McTiernan scored 3 goals in the loss. Courtney Swan and Dana Boyle each had 2 goals. It was the fourth game this season that Virginia lost by just one goal.
Virginia coach Julie Myers said, "Typically if it's a close game Virginia is used to winning those but its a great group of girls and their working really hard, there's not much more we can ask them to do in terms of practice. They just need to stay together and find their confidence in little things and see where that can take them."
Virginia now has a record of 7-8 and must finish .500 to qualify for the NCAA Tournament. Virginia plays its regular season finale at home Wednesday against Virginia Tech.
