People Speak Up on School Funding to Augusta Supervisors
It was another packed house Wednesday night at the Augusta County Board of Supervisors meeting. Students, teachers and parents all spoke out about school funding.
One man congratulated supervisors for their budgeting, but the majority wanted to see county leaders give more money to the schools.
A couple of people even said "raise my taxes."
"Give them the funds necessary to maintain the quality of our schools and provide the well-rounded education these young people will need to succeed. We can't wait on Richmond. We can't wait on a reassessment. So I ask you tonight to please raise my taxes," said parent Martin Siebken.
Supervisors are split on whether to impose a tax increase.
A public hearing on the budget and proposed tax rate is scheduled for next Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
