College students in central Virginia are helping guide the discussion for the future of higher education.
The student-run group Virginia 21 hosted a panel Tuesday with University of Virginia President Teresa Sullivan, Piedmont Virginia Community College President Frank Friedman and state lawmakers.
Students got to ask them questions face-to-face on a range of topics.
"This is a really unique opportunity for students to have a chance to talk to President Sullivan and the delegates who represent the area at the same time about the issues that concern students - issues like financial aid, sequestration, tuition increases that are possibly going to hit the university," said Brendan Wynn, panel moderator and member of Virginia 21.
Virginia 21 hopes to put together a panel discussion on higher education issues with gubernatorial candidates Terry McAuliffe and Ken Cuccinelli.
