Redshirt freshman quarterback Grayson Lambert completed 21-of-36 passes for 248-yards and two touchdowns in the Orange-Blue spring game Saturday at Scott Stadium.
Lambert says, "I didn't really keep track of my reps, but I know as an offensive team, we just wanted to execute. We did some things well, and some things bad, and we need to go and work on it, and that'll be the focus."
Sophomore David Watford was 5-of-10 for 55 yards, and also ran for a touchdown.
Junior Phillip Sims threw for 89 yards while completing 8-of-18 passes.
The Virginia defenses combined for three safeties and 14 sacks in the game.
Sophomore Eli Harold says, "The defense adjusted great. They did what we expected them to do. We shut them down. In a spring game, you can run that much stuff. For the most part, the defense did a great job."
Head coach Mike London says, "I think there's a level of toughness defensively that we exhibited today. With all those plays, there weren't many miscues, and that's something that's been a point of emphasis for us."
The Orange-Blue Spring Game was the 12th practice of the spring season for the Cavaliers.
"To be where we are, from where we started, and for this to be our 12th practice," says London. "Most teams have their 15th practice as their spring game, we still have three left. There were good things there today, but also things we need to continue to work on."
